There is a way...


A friend of mine who works for another program called Shakti talked about a particular family that lives in Malepatan, Pokhara. After hearing the story of this family I was curious to visit them. Shakti group found a 11 years old girl who had been the victim of trafficking and rescued her from the border of Nepal and India. Shakti Group staff visited her family in Malepaten. While visiting, they found a one year girl inside a dark room which was locked. They could not do anything at that time and in the next days they tried to meet the parents.

A New Healing Clinic


The NHK team recently set up the new counselling center in one of the Children’s Home’s called the Children’s Welfare Association. This is our third out-clinic from the main counselling center. This new clinic is going to start from coming Saturday (Aug 18/12). Children’s Welfare Association is Swiss-Nepal joint venture. There are 35 young children living, who have experienced different kinds of traumatic events in their young lives.

A Happy Ending


We met a father who has been suffering from tuberculosis for few years and could not buy medicine due to extreme poverty. Recently he was in contact with one organization that helped him to buy some medicine. His wife goes to work if she finds work and buys food for family. They have a ten year old daughter and two other children, one is 4 years old and the other is 1 years old. The Ten years old girl never got chance to go to the school. One organization that called “Shakti Group” in Pokhara introduced her to Nepal House Kaski.

A Home visit


I have a new client to work with these days. The client is six years old boy. The client has many fears and this makes friendship and relationships challenging for him .After gathering all the information, we asked the mother to bring the child in NHK for a primary visit. When he came with his mother he started crying and pulled the mother and said let's go home, we told the mother we would come to see him in his home. I visited the client five times in his home in presence of his mother. In every visit I go with small toys and jacks.

Making good teachers even better!


The School Principal from Srijina Higher Secondary School was looking for introductory counselling training for his 40 teachers. It was the first time they were asking to organize training for such a big group. We were a little nervous but we had our volunteer Marcia Burton from Canada. She helped us to select the topics that would helpful to offer. Learning about counselling is so new here so we were careful that we are not offering too much.
