With your generous support, we provide:

  • Safety

We help the girls at the Nepal House School build a safe life, with a broad range of free support for them and their families. In Nepal, an estimated 10,000-15,000 girls are trafficked across the border per year. These girls, ranging in age from 7-24, are sold into Indian brothels.

A UN study done in 2000 revealed that illiteracy, poverty and family problems are the major reasons for trafficking. The girls who attend the Nepal House School not only receive a free education, they also have access to therapy, health care and meals. Their families are assisted at no cost as well.

  • Education

Since opening in 2011, our school has provided a free education to about 25 girls/year. Our school takes in children who, because of poverty, family issues, or behaviour would never get a chance at an education.

We provide school uniforms & shoes, trained teachers, educational and art materials, and teaching of healthy social skills. We also feed the students when they are at the school.

For our ever increasing number of graduates who move onto regular school (65 and counting!) we provide them with tuition, school fees, uniforms & shoes to extend our support.

  • Mental Health Support

Nepal is a poor country with very few trained counselors or therapeutic services for children. These children often must confront natural disasters, political unrest, and abuse without support.

Our therapists provide a safe haven and hope for those they work with. They provide culturally sensitive non-directive and directive play and expressive arts therapies, talk therapy, and other trauma-focused interventions.

Children learn healthy coping skills and receive counseling for trauma, depression and anxiety, grief and loss, health and other issues.

  • Healthy Parenting

Because of poverty, illiteracy and neglect, many children have poor hygiene and illnesses. Nepal House provides medical care, healthy meals and education about hygiene to children and their parents free of charge. Nepal is riddled by poverty and high rates of abuse and neglect. Addictions are also a major issue.

The girls who attend the Nepal House School not only receive a free education, they also have access to therapy, health care and meals. Their families are assisted at no cost as well. We provide parent education courses, support groups for mothers and fathers in the community, and one-on-one counselling for parents.
